Anyhow now its finally up again ..
I have to take the server down for some disk maintenance soon again as theres a disk dead in one of the raids on this server :-(

Moved more stuff, this time I moved the entire www server to a new machine (waaaay better config) :-) You should hopefully only see improvements in speed..
Im still selling different arcade stuff in the Arcade -> WiP -> For Sale area... go check it out..
Did not have time to do much on the site or the app lately... Im considering moving the entire app from VB6 to VS C++ 7.... Hmm...

Moved the Main News Archive onto a DB in preparation for the next release of RomScanner which supports MOTD, WebCheckup and all that smart gizmo stuff :-)

Finally - An New Release!
v1.00.02.21 has just been put online. It features many improvements, especially around the speed of execution - you can expect allmost 50% faster execution or more in some cases.. If you find any errors please let me know on this mail

OK, Some of you may have experienced a service interruption that was planned to take place yesterday.
I had to change the DNS and some www-server setttings for www.romscanner.com. This should also make the forums work within the site framework.
Further I'm proud to announce a new release of RomScanner -> v1.00.02.06
Go get the new version in the download section.

To use the new feature just add /autoloop=[auto|1...999999999] (thats either the word 'auto' or the number of passes to be made) to the commandline (the feature only works in conjunction with /autoprocess).
In case you use auto RomScanner will keep Re-Processing the Scan directory until no more complete sets are found. If you use a number RomScanner will Re-Process the requested number of times, but stop if no more matches are found. (heh. dunno _why_ you would use this feature...)
To check the release, go to the downloads section....

So.. Another day another small step for RomScanner... I'm in the final phases of preparing a new version (v1.00.02.00)
The new release encompasses a nice feature that I found usefull in my own environment (after all thats whats driving the development of this application)... Hardly ?AnyOne? come by, and ask questions or anything ... :-(
So ... I needed a way to reprocess the same set of source files more than one time.
I found that especially mame archives seem to come in so many versions that even one pass by RomScanner will leave enough files (which are dupes) to build more romsets...
So thinking of Leeloo from 5'th Element, saying "MultiPass" made me realise that I could do the same.... .Ding. .Ding. and the feature was built.

New forums are up. got this wonderful asp discussion board from www.webwizguide.info if you do run your own ASP enabled site... gve this baby a whirl... looks really nice!
Updated the layout of the forums section as well, and i'm going to update the other areas oof the site now.. Guess what there are no known errors in the latest beta (the RC version) and I have been running it for one week straight!
So later tonight - if the gods, my compiler and so on are willing I will be releasing v1.00.00.00 of RomScanner

Uhmm Yeah Yeah Yeah - I know the design sux big time.. but then again I'm not a web design guru... (oh - if you are please report at aisle one)...
I have been improving the layout a little, mostly a nice effect on the logo... the hyperlink there will bring you to the java developers website....

For a long time I've been collecting rom images - playing all the games of yesteryear - but my as my collection kept growing, I discovered that I kept recieving the same images over and over again, sometimes with different names, and with different contents...
So I discovered GoodTools, CLRMamePro and RomCenter - but none of therese brilliant programs did excatly what I wanted... So what could I do ??
Anyway a loooong story very short: I built my own program.
RomScanner will run from a command prompt under any Windows version with IE 5+ installed, it will scan .Zip files and create new rom archives when a match is found. RomScanner uses DAT files in RomCenter format, these can be downloaded from www.romcenter.com and also from other places on the web. At some point I will make some kind of links page...

To try RomScanner (v0.01.23.00 beta) (at your own risk) go to the download section now!
The version available now is a beta version, but stable and without any known errors...
If you find any problems mail me the DAT file and the .ZIP file thats causing you grief, and I will look at it asap.. Look at the distribution archive for a readme.txt and other .txt files with late-breaking information. Also take a look in the forum section for more information, bug list, to-do list, FAQ and other stuff.
